I passionately believe that the old saying – everyone has a book inside them – is true...

“My Bum Is Genetic Deal with It” is a one-woman poedra (dramatized poetry) theatrical piece performed by Napo Masheane, a young black woman with a big bum and an ordinary African body. Her quest is to recruit other women around the world to join her new political party (Buddies United in Movement) A.K.A the BUM.
She urges other voluptuous women to take note that South Africa is importing clothes that do not reflect the majority of black women's bodies. Thus, the character is challenging the South African fashion industry and media; local magazines, the television and film industries, including pharmaceutical companies. But mostly, her political party (Buddies United In Movement) acts as a voice of resistance against what the world sets as the standards of beauty, which often neglects the beauty one finds in the curves and bums of an African woman’s body.
