I passionately believe that the old saying – everyone has a book inside them – is true...

View from the Transkei

Born in a small dusty rural and backward village of Mpozolo, Willowvale town in a district called Amathole in 1935, Constance lost her mom at the tender age of three. She overcame that early loss, through her life's challenges and her milestones, which can be interpreted as achievements during the pre-apartheid era when women had fewer opportunities and privileges than men.

Constance served a great many roles; a mother, a wife, an active community member, a town councillor, a town clerk and a teacher.

Mrs Constance Nosizwe Nkonki was the wife of the late visionary and a well-deserving man Mr Garvey Gubhuze Nkonki who was respected by the community for the strides he made in advancing the education of the isiXhosa (Bantu) language in South Africa.

Constance is an inspiration to those who are looking to understand how they can shape their life in these challenging times.

An impactful historical tale for her children, the next generations, and generations of other families who will be interested to follow the way Constance lived her life in a South Africa vastly different from how it is today.

A narrative of a life well lived.
